Homecoming

We are back at home having a fun time figuring out how all this works and how to get some sleep ourselves.

Walter Griffin

Walter Griffin born at 9:58pm on January 16.

After a night of rest, Walter and Anna are both doing well.

Providence

In early November we took a trip to Providence and got to hang out with some babies.

We went to the beach in Westport.

Vernon cooked up a feast of Indian food.

Dan had some conversations with an Elephant.

Italy - England

In September Dan went on an informal field trip to the Italian Alps (near Balmuccia and Finero) looking at some classic alpine outcrops and thinking about possible grant proposals to come back.

On a hike we came across an old hillside hamlet and it looked like some of the houses were still maintained as hike-in summer homes.

After Italy, Dan went to Liverpool for a conference (Deformation Mechanisms, Rheology and Tectonics) where he didn't take any pictures. But then he went to visit Ellen and Jim in Dent where they showed him around the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.

Martin made us a brew at the top of the first Dale we climbed.

Canoe Trip

In September we took a canoe trip down the St. Croix river from Hwy. 70 t0 Taylors Falls. The paddling was a little more difficult than we expected. We were going down stream, but into the wind. But we still had a great trip.

Byrd is getting bigger.

Thankfully, Dan is not showing.

Late summer

Sorry to disappoint blog followers with irregular postings. The next few posts will be some photographic highlights from the past several months.

We visited Sarah, Jamie and Abigail in July.

We went to Sam and Anne-Marie's wedding and they borrowed our tandem bicycle (which was a wedding gift to us from them and others) as the vehicle from the ceremony to the toast to the reception.

Anna was getting bigger
