Outdoor Fun

Messy eating

Start of Summer

Trying to beat the heat of the last week.
Eggs poached in spinach pesto . . .
mmmmm.
Walter is happy to help us find shoes so that we can take him outside to play.

Making friends

We hadn't been to our favorite restaurant around here (the Elk Creek Cafe) for a while. So we went out for brunch on a rainy Sunday.
Walter instigated a toddler performance on the music stage.
The toddlers amazingly self-organized all leaning up against the wall together. We hope to see them again.

Apple Blossoms

Last weekend Dan and Walter went to the Way Fruit Farm for the apple blossom festival.

We took a wagon ride around the orchard.
Walter clung to his two special rocks from the gravel parking lot for the whole ride.

Back Yard

It is pretty amazing the large things you can order online with free shipping. Here is our new outdoor dining setup and new grill that all just arrived in the mail (we inherited the gazebo thing). The chairs even came fully assembled.

We christened the grill with a whole rainbow trout and some early-season sweet corn.

Sandbox

Walter has a sandbox/waterbox now. We had a great time playing before and after dinner. I missed getting photos of when he decided it was hilarious to pour sand on top of his head with the shovel. He was a dirty boy at bath time.

Time to take a swig of milk (or play with the makeshift watering can).

First trip abroad

Some last minute personell changes meant that Dan and Walter ended up accompanying Anna on a work trip to Toronto.

We enjoyed some nice museums, such as the Art Gallery of Ontario.

Walter thought of his Tia Juanita enjoying arepas near our hotel.

Checking out the distillery district.

On the way home, we got to stop by Niagara Falls.

Easter fun

We took the new bike trailer on an outing to the town easter egg hunt.

The crowd gathers around the fenced off area of plastic eggs.
At 2pm sharp the hunt begins, and it is over quickly.
Bike helmet makes a good basket.
Happy hunter.
Earlier in the day, we went to an animal expo in the ag arena.
Llamas.

Rain Boots

Thanks for the rain boots, Grandma!
They are fun, but I'm a little suspicious of them.

How about a snack?
Mmmm, messy mango.
